Avoiding Systems in SEIV
 

I've played SEIV for years now, and I've *never* been able to figure out how to designate a system as one to be avoided. The SEIV manual instructions don't seem to correspond to the screens that I see. When I right-click on a system in the minimap that I want to designate as one to be avoided, it brings up the galaxy map. So far, so good. When I click on the Avoid button, though, and then lift-click on the system in question, all it does is bring up the System Notes screen. Blech. It does *not* toggle the system into Avoid mode, and the system does *not* show up as red on the minimap thereafter as I would expect it to. What gives? Can anyone help?

Go to Empire Status (F11). Click the "Systems to Avoid" button. That is the screen where you can toggle whether or not to avoid a particular system. The screen you've been looking at is (aside from system notes) for viewing things only and can show several things besides avoided systems.
