The Ark and other underwater bugs
I brought the Ark underwater to fight about 600 Ermorian undead (mostly non-sacred). There was no battle enchantment icon for the Ark, and enemy units did not take any damage from it.
Also, according to the battle report, the commander holding the Ark did not die: Commanders 2, killed 0. But when viewing the battle, he runs away. He's carrying a Barrel of Air, and there is a friendly province for him to retreat to. But the message log says my commander died retreating into enemy territory (and I can forge the Ark again, which is a bad sign http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ). Is the Ark supposed to work underwater? Can an underwater fleeing commander flee to a friendly neighboring underwater province, if he is a land-based unit wearing a water-breathing item? |

As for the lack of ark effect underwater, most likely it's simply an unintended detail that hasn't come up before. |
Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
Thanks. I don't see the retreat bug in the short list, so I'll update the bug discussion thread.

Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
The Ark doesn't work underwater because it IIRC casts Solar Brilliance, which is not castable underwater. The retreat bug I hadn't seen before, therefore it was noyt in the shortlist.

Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
i also thought it just cast solar brilliance; ie., that part isn't a bug.
he should have been able to retreat, though. |
Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
I am pretty sure that its a diffrent effect.
Its effect is much stronger than solar brilliance isn't it? It actually kills and maims non sacred troops, and besides solar brilliance effects sacred troops just like everyone else while the ark does not. |
Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
Oops, forgot about this thread!
Thanks guys, I saw it too, the Ark does not cast Solar Brilliance. It casts an "Ark" effect. The "Ark" effect was not as uber as I thought it would be, it probably takes a while to whittle down the opposition. Actually that's pretty similar to Solar Brilliance too. I had to use it with Black Templars, since my only other sacreds was Ghouls, and I didn't have any sacred leaders for them. And Black Templars are not very patient http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. Could be WAD that it doesn't work underwater ... some kind of shielding effect from the water. |
Re: The Ark and other underwater bugs
The forbidden light casts solar brilliance.
Do people want a mod to make the Ark effect work underwater? It should be easy enough to change, if people care, and I don't see any reason why underwater nazis can't be fried by the Ark. |

vfb:
You can kill every amount of troops with that, routing big part of them. Some half-decent SC to keep the Ark is enough. Easily killed 2k army in last test. |
