New Scenario available - Space 1999!

I seem to be on a post-apocalyptic scenario bent lately. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif I have created a single-player scenario. It is available in the Mod Archive, Maps and Scenarios section.

Description:

Space 1999 - A Space Empire IV Scenario.

It's 400 years after the accident that sent the moon and its occupants hurtling across the galaxy. After centuries of traveling, Luna has finally been pulled into a stable orbit of a passing star.

You are the leader of the decendants of the original scientists and engineers of Moon Base Alpha. Do you set out back across the stars in search of a planet you have never seen? Or do you try to make a new life here on the other side of the quadrant?

Your starting planet is a tiny domed rock/none world. There is only enough space for one facility. A space yard. You should have enough resources to build a colony ship and establish a colony, build a space port, and start building mining facilities. Resources will be tight early, so spend wisely.

In all my test games you have a couple years before any aliens show up, but they are out there.

Download the zip file and extract it into your Space Empires IV/Scenarios directory. Run the game and select "Scenario" and "SPACE_1999" to start.

If you save the game in progress and continue later it will be in your default savegame directory.

Enjoy!

P.S. If you try it out, let me know if you ever find Earth. It's out there, somewhere. The whole Sol system is. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Um... You don't seem to have an attachment or a link to the zip in your post. I mean, sure we can look through the archive, but why not have a link to it?

Heres a link to that scenario (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/ubbup...space_1999.zip)

Less than 30 years? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif and you reunited with Earth already? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

I guess I should update the scenario and remove the Eee. Those bastards are too eager to form partnerships and give away all those system maps. lol

Thanks for the story. I hope you had as much fun playing it as I had reading it.

Now you just got to use the 1999 shipset that was around a bit ago. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

I started the scenario Last night and I'm really enjoying it. I was quickly at war with the Xi'Chung, and in a partnership with the Phong. It's turn 78 and I just glassed the Xi'Chung homeworld. Once I mop them up and consolidate I will be moving on.

The start to this one is really tricky, but it's a bLast.

I did consider that. That was part of the genesis of the idea for the scenario. The only reason I didn't was because if the player didn't download the shipset too, the game would randomly pick a shipset instead of using the Terran one.

Great scenario, the start is especially good. For those of you starting it for the first time, give yourself some extra challenge and don’t make a partnership with anyone. Making the partnership takes the fun out of finding Earth.

Thanks to Geo
