problem with colonizing(bug???)
I got this game (SEV) a couple of days ago but haven't really had time to play it until now. But anyway, my problem is the following. When I execute the colonize command to a colony ship everything seems fine. The only problem is that my colony ships refuse to move to the designated planet. They just stand...I mean float on the same hex turn after turn. Everything else seems OK. I know that you only can colonize planets of the same type as your homeworlds and that's exactly what I'm trying to do. Bug anyone?

Re: problem with colonizing(bug???)
Did you build colonizer yourself or let AI do it ? - maybe you missed something - Did you load "population " ? Add Kwok's " Balance Mod " for a better running game

Re: problem with colonizing(bug???)
I will go through a list of things you might want to check. Please excuse me if they sound obvious.
1. Does the ship have a colony module? 2. does it have engines? 3. Are you giving orders over a homeworld?. When you order it to colonise, it must either have colonists or be orbiting a planet to automatically pick some up. Although scratch that, it can still colonise even without people (just it won't be able to build and no one will immigrate there) I can't think of anything else, but this might be because some things are so obvious to me (A veteran) I don't think of them. ps. oh. Are you playing a simultaneous game. In that case every empire places orders then they all run. The ship won't go off and colonise until you finish the turn and run the next. |
Re: problem with colonizing(bug???)
You've updated the game to the latest version?
When you execute the command, does movement lines appear from the ship to the location? |
Re: problem with colonizing(bug???)
A lack of engines seems to be the answer most consistent with the stated conditions.
Stock SE5 does not require you to add any engines at all, but a colony ship isn't terribly useful without them. Many people around here have run into a situation where they redesign a warship, and marvel at how using some other gun has given them more firepower than they expected. After building the first few engine-less ships, you learn that what seems too good to be true is http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif |

Post your save game file.

Actually, now it comes to mind that I may have forgot to add engines. I only followed the warnings list when I built the ship.
Oh, silly me... |
