Ringworlds with finite resources
Question: if you create a ringworld or sphereworld in a finite resource game, what kind of resources can you expect from the thing?
Quikngruvn ------------------ Ponder this: Scientists already knew that matter is 98% empty space. After they figured out the structure of protons, they determined the remaining 2% is mostly made up of... well, nothing. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor? |
Re: Ringworlds with finite resources
Another question related to finite resources (boy, I'm full of it... er, them): does a value improvement plant actually do anything under finite resources? Enquiring minds want to know!

Re: Ringworlds with finite resources
Bump. I want to know too.
------------------ Assume you have a 1kg squirrel E=mc^2 E=1kg(3x10^8m/s)^2=9x10^16J which, if I'm not mistaken, is equivilent to roughly a 50 megaton nuclear bomb. Fear the squirrel. |
Re: Ringworlds with finite resources
RWs and SWs both have 500kT of resources, or far less than a good homeworld. value improvement plants do indeed function, a vlaue 3 took a sphereworld from 500-515-531kT of each resource over 2 years of operation. however, if you loaded it with monolith facilites, it would probably use far more than this.. it would probably be worthwhile to stick a value improvement plant on your homeworlds though, as they tend to start with 1-2mT on normal or good starts (if i recall)

Re: Ringworlds with finite resources
as a related note, you cant really port a map you created for a noromal game to a limited resources one, as each Ton of resources in a limited game represents 1% on a normal one. so planets will have squat for resources if you bring a normal map over. if you export a map from a finite resource game, you will see that each planet has hundreds of thousands of resources.
