Bug?: I can\'t create a new Prophet
 

My Prophet received injuries and died of her wounds in the second year of my game. I'm currently in the fifth year and I still cannot create a new prophet. The manual says you can create a new prophet within six months and the AI nations are creating new prophets all the time.

Is this a bug or am I missing something about how to declare a new prophet?

Sounds like a bug, be sure the unit your trying to turn into a prophet is not in an enemy territory.

Also (just in case) if you are playing LA R'lyeh you may already have a pile of self proclaimed insane prophets running around, in which case you won't be able to make a new one.

I'm using Man and I keep trying to turn Crones I build in my home castle into prophets and the option simply isn't there.

Did she die of disease in the last month of winter? I am not joking, that
particular combination is screwed up, and when this happen, you are stuck.
No prophets for you.

When this happens, immortals die for good, twice borns fail to come back, etc...
I wish someone from Illwinter would make sure that the late winter damage calls all
the on_death() hooks... actually, all the on_damage() ones don't seem to be
called either.

He means if you're playing in a game with LA rlyeh, whose dominion can turn your units insane and allow them to declare themselves prophets.

Even if you're playing LA Man, this may have happened. If you're bordering rlyeh, of course.

You're not under siege, right? You can't make a unit your prophet in a fort under siege.

Otherwise it's probably the winter bug.

Having a bunch of insane Rlyeh prophets does not prevent you from making a new prophet 6 months after your 'real' prophet dies. The 'real' prophet is different -- it's the only one that spreads dominion (ignoring preaching).

Somewhat bizarrely, I was able to recreate a profit about 6.5 years after my prophet had died. I got a message saying my prophet's power had faded from the world and I could now make a new one.

This was long, long after the prophet had died. When she died, I just got a message about she had succumbed to her wounds.

That means she had died of disease and it probably coincided with late winter, which, as stated, causes all kinds of headaches. I think I need to do some reorganizing of the shortlist and give the winter bug some more prominence.
