BUG: Niefelheim Jotun Skratti chaning to wolf

After you give a command to change shape in battle (to werewolf form), it will change shape again into a wolf (after battle) losing the ability to carry its items, therefor losing basically all items except miscellaneous items *after a battle*. VERY BAD BUG!

Seconded. I've run into this before.
It applies to Skratti in all ages.

Probably would apply to any shape changer with 3 forms.

My assumption is that if a "change shape" command is given in battle, another is issued after the battle is over to return to the original form. Except when there are 3 forms, that goes to the last form.

I don't think it's not automatic, there's the #firstshape command for it. Any way, It can probably be modded away by giving the Skratti firsthape into his giant form.

I wrote a little bit about that in the MA Jotunheim guide. Basically you should never switch forms in battle. If you know there's a fight coming up, you should be in Werewolf form already.

That is the workaround.

It does mean more fatigue from any buffing spells you want to cast, since he loses a level in each path. On the other hand, it's one less necessary action in the script.

Still, it should be treated as a bug.

It would also be nice if there was someway to get back to Skratti form without losing all the items. (When not in a lab, or by passing everything to another commander)

All this for a form, that while neat and thematic, is rarely used.

The fix for that would be to have both wolf shapes default to the skratti shape as firstshaċe, but if the dire wolf form was stealthy, that could be a problem...

Why would dire wolf stealth be a problem?

I may not understand how firstshape works. You should never forcibly shift back in enemy territory anyway. If you changed in battle you either won or retreated to safety.

I would hope it wouldn't shift back after battle if he didn't change shape in battle. More simply, and ideally, he should always return to the shape he started the battle in.

I hate this one. I think it is just a bug with the #firstshape parameter. But I
disagree about the wolf shape being unthematic or rarely used. It is the only
stealth one. If the the werewolf shape had stealth, then yes, the wolf shape
would have no purpose... and the Skratti would be a lot more useful.

The best fix would be if shapechanging units always reverted back to the shape they had before battle, but I have no idea how feasible that is. It'd require a variable where the current shape is stored and that variable retrieved if the unit survives the battle. No idea if such things are already in game, because it would be different from firstshape mechanics.

lol, kthx. You need to rewrite your guide. You aren't the only one who knows how to play Dominions. Losing levels in magic means losing the ability to cast certain buffs. Maybe you want to counter that by saying "equip magic gems." Ok, that takes more gems. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

That being said, lets get this bug fixed.
