WinSPMBT and Vista. . .

I know there's plenty of threads regarding WinSPMBT and Vista. But so far I haven't found one that has anything to do with my problem, and I'm not really willing to read every post of every thread. So here it is:

I start up WinSPMBT and when it gets to the starting menu, it's all in weird colors, every where. Windowed or full, same thing. I've made it compatible with Windows XP (SP 2), run with 256 colors and as an admin. Doesn't work. Any ideas?

If you had read the "winSPMBT and WinSPWW2 and VISTA" thread at the top of the forum you would have seen something to do with your problem so taking the time to actually do that might be worthwhile..yes?

Before trying any of these solutions that have worked for others you might want to try turning 'Show Introduction" off in Game options before trying anything else. If you do read the posts on that thread you'll find the new Vista service pack has caused problems for people who in the past had no problems.

However, these two players have had success with these solutions. I'll assume you have already ensured that your graphics card has the latest drive and it is Vista compatable

I was able to solve that problem on my new pc (intel quadcore/vista home/8800 GTS) by enabling WinSPMBT in compatibility mode for Windows XP plus checking the box that says: "run this program in 256 color mode" (i dont know the exact command as iam using a german version of vista)
PS:
The hotfix that solved the gfx messup (for me) i posted above will only work if you start the game through the real game.exe not the default game/options launcher.

OK, I think I found how to fix this problem in VISTA. Using VISTA "Display Setting," 'change the "Colors" drop down from "high (32 bit)" to "Medium (16 bit)." I have not had a problem since.

When completing the game and you really need the 'high,' go back and change, accordingly.
