lazy bugger

shortly after the start of the furball game on PBW I realized that while fun, it was just too simple. The sphereworld would not come into play, and tactics were decidedly not important.

I dont know if people left me alone because I started the game and they figured I knew something or was somehow dangerous, but 2 things are certain. one, I had plenty of time to build up. two, they were very wrong. even with my enormous time to build up, I got my butt handed to me by TWO (count them, two) of the Wraith's ships. thats not two per planet mind you, just two. I think it was my poor choice of tactics that did me in, religious / psychic with a few computer viri thrown in sounds cool in theory, and granted that Temporal was a big help as well, but the religious / psychic thing just didnt work out. should have built heavy mount WMGs like everyone else. I still poke my head in every turn to keep up on the game administration, and hopefully my alies are continuing the bloody swath they were carving across the system.

But I digress. there was a point to this if i can find it again... A plan came together for a second furball game shortly after the first had begun. A similar setup, but give each player a fist full of systems. connect each cluster to a central hub, and position the trophy sphereworlds at the hub. I started working on the map quite some time ago, but it got back-burnered when i realized that I had a few hundred more wormholes to create to make the map work for 10 players. A 'copy' and 'paste' sure would be handy on the map editor.

anyway, because I am such a lazy bastard, I am looking for someone to take up the torch. If you are interested in working on the project, i can send the map and more details on how it was going to be setup. of course, you dont have to set it up my way if you dont like it, but I think I found the easiest way to make a fair and balanced game (I have practice being lazy, after all).

Look at my map10a in the archive. You only have to patch for nexus style planets, and away you go with over 7000 to choose from. I advise a ten planet start so that the average number nexus style is the same for all players. Have at least 9 players, one to be the nexus holder and be given a 40 turn truce before you attack. Unless you mod the central system the nexus holder needs to be a Co2 Gas Giant race.....

Hint - unless you disable events, the nexus holder MUST evacuate out to the fringes in a long game, because with 16 stars per system and many of them unstable the chance of a system blowing up regularly is high. OTOH the holder has the pick of the quadrant to choose from with those one way warp points, and only has to defend 4 warp points to hold the inner ring of 1 + 14.
