MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
In order to test a mod i want to get into the game as fast as possible. How would i go about that ?
Pregenerating and loading a map (systems = 2) loading game setup (low players, edited to low = 1 empire) adding my empire starting the game It still takes way too long, how can i further speed up the process ? |
Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
Unless you are making some savegame-breaking changes in the current batch of edits, loading up an existing savegame is much faster. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Saving the game on turn 1 before anything has been done helps to reduce the effective of rampant component changes and such.

Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
Can't you just set up a QuickStart?

Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
If you save your test game setup (map included) then you just need to add your empire file and hit begin game. That's about as fast as it will get.
Quickstart will be slower because it generates a new map and about a dozen players. |
Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
Yeah but you could modify in the files how many empires quick-start should create. You could also make it so that it only creates 2-3 systems when making a new map.

Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
Well, he was first loading a map then a game setup. Game setups can also have saved maps, so it's one less step. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Re: MOD: Quickest way to set up a game ?!
You could set up an autohotkey script to simulate mouse clicks on the game window and automate the whole process.
It wouldn't be too much faster, since you have to wait for the UI to respond anyways, but it would be less work at least. |
