How can I read all the units descriptions ?
Hi,
First thanks to the deeloppers for such a great game. I would love to read the descriptions for all units since they are so interesting but to do so do I have to start a game with all nations ? I'm sure there is a file who contain all the info can somebody tell me what it is, it would be really appreciated. Thanks and sorry if I didn't put the question in the correct forum. |
Re: How can I read all the units descriptions ?
I suggest creating games named "EA nations", "MA nations" etc. Create a new game, choose a big map, press 'n' until no more nations are added, press 'shift+H' to turn all nations to human. Press and hold enter, and click "ready" whenever a pretender pops up. It will only take about 10 seconds or so, bit more until the game is created, but that way you can quickly view all nations of the game.
There's also an AllView map, which I recently updated. To get it to work properly, you have to enable a mod that adds a new unit with high unit ID, but it will also work for the next patch. If you haven't tried any mods out yet, it isn't a big deal - you'll be unable to view about 3 units, out of nearly 2000. |

all the descriptions for everything in the game are in dom3.exe. If you get a hex editor you can read them that way, but its a pain in the butt.

A simple text editor also works. The problem with reading dom.exe is that you have to guess which unit the description applies to.

Instead of using a hex editor, use "strings" (on *nix). But Endo's suggestion is still the best which I always use, too.
