Quick MA/LA Ryleh researcher question
 

Who do you use for researchers for MA/LA Ryleh? I've noticed that while the Starspawn mages offer much more RP per unit, Starspawn priests are a better deal for RP per upkeep cost.

Generally I recruit a bunch of the cheapo holy mages early on, and then I move in towards the more expensive ones. The cheapo mages are really only good for communions.

You definitely want purple spawns (priests) when you play LA R'lyeh as they don't get mad, cost less upkeep and are far better on battlefield (D ones can spam Nether Darts, E ones are useful for forge, W ones can spam Frozen hart and S ones are simply good S2 mages). So once you have money you should stop building Star children and switch to purple Starspawns.
Blue Starspawns are not cost effective researchers, but they are splendid mages.

MA is all mages. LA is more of a tossup, since your gold supply is dwindling, and there's a much better reason to put up temples, since your dominion hurts other nations, so priests could be worthwhile then due to the lower upkeep. I'm not really familiar with how their economy works to sat for sure.

MA though you should have 2 priests, one for void summons and one for H site searching if you're into that sort of thing. Other than that it's just all mages. Saves a ton of cash on not having to temple new forts and makes your research insanely fast, plus they're incredibly good, plus you'll want as many as you can to unlock random pick combos with the 10% chance.

In LA population doesn't really die that fast. By turn 60 with heavy patrolling from turn2 I have now 10000 in my capital (dom 10, growth 3)
Priests are generally better researchers than starchildren, more useful on battlefield and have more hp. So they are very good in the case you have many castles. If you don't have many, then you should recruit blue Starspawn mages.
