CD Music
Isn't SEIV supposed to have background music that runs off the CD? I can't find it anywhere. Settings.txt has a parameter that says to allow CD music, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Re: CD Music
I’ve never been able to get the music to play off the original disc.
I just burned the music onto a new CD, and it works fine, just remember to make the first track a blank track or something so the track numbers on the new CD correspond to the numbers on the game disc. The first music track on the game CD is 2, to that is how it should be on the new copy, and everything will then play as its supposed to. |
Re: CD Music
you know, i have never heard the cd music. once the game was installed, i always played without the CD. i have installed it on three of my machines (dont shoot me if that vilolates the license, its just me playing it.) and never actually listened to the music. i will have to plop the disc in a player and see what all this fuss is about. this 'no cd music' thread has been bouncing arround since before i ever hit this forum.

I just looked at the CD and it starts on Track 1. Now, if only I had a CD burner, I could have background music. Well, thanks anyways. I just had a thought: Would the game use the music if I copied it onto my hard drive? [This message has been edited by Imperator Fyron (edited 19 August 2001).] |
Re: CD Music
Does anyone READ all those text files? You can completely customize the way it uses the CD music in the SETTINGS.TXT file. viz:
Num Intro Songs := 1 Intro Song 1 Track := 9 Num Background Songs := 8 Background Song 1 Track := 2 Background Song 2 Track := 3 Background Song 3 Track := 10 Background Song 4 Track := 11 Background Song 5 Track := 12 Background Song 6 Track := 13 Background Song 7 Track := 14 Background Song 8 Track := 16 Num Combat Songs := 6 Combat Song 1 Track := 4 Combat Song 2 Track := 5 Combat Song 3 Track := 6 Combat Song 4 Track := 7 Combat Song 5 Track := 8 Combat Song 6 Track := 15 |
Re: CD Music
I never tried it myself, but someone posted once that if you put a differnt music CD in your drive while playing the game, it would play those songs instead. Sounds kind of cool. Someone mentioned using a soundtrack from a scifi movie or something ike that to add a different feel to the game.

I saw that you could customize the tracks played, but I still can't figure out why the game doesn't play the background music. There's an allow CD music parameter, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I set it to true, and then to yes, and it still doesn't want to play the music. |
Re: CD Music
I wasn't replying to your first post, Fyron, but to the other questions in the thread.

I suspect Track 1 is game data; I remember another game that had a warning in the tech manual not to try to play Track 1 as audio, but I can't recall what game it was.
