They are now a non-pretender commander in the hall of fame.. why no heroic ability?

It's not a Wished for unit, is it? What unit is it? It might have the Pretender flag set on it anyway.

I've gained heroic abilities this way, usually on the turn I GoR them (since they're a four-star surviving veteran or something). I haven't done it since several patches ago, though.

Also verify you don't have two commanders with the same name.

The unique summons tend not to get HoF abilities, as well. e.g. the elemental royalty are not supposed to.

I guess that must be it. The two I had in mind were the Daughter of Typhon and the Harvester of Sorrows.

Any reason why these guys arent supposed to?

Daughter of Typhon is unique, so won't get heroics. Most easily available SC chassises are unique, and uniques won't get heroics to prevent awesome SCs being even better. Can you imagine a Queen of Storms with double hp from heroic ability?

Harvester of Sorrows should get a heroic ability, though.

I guess I dont see a reason why the Daughter of Typhon is unique either..

She only has 2 misc slots, so she isnt much of a SC chassie, although she is fun.

She is unique for thematic reasons. Her immortality also helps.
