Does the AI ever use stellar manipulation

Has anyone ever seen the AI use any of the stellar manipulation components?

Yes, I have seen them create a planet.

I've had one or two open a warp point to attack unimportant systems. Mainly to open up from the 1 or 2 or ::cough!:: 50 systems I locked it off from.

I've also had the AI, ina different game, close off warp points to black holes.... and a section of my key supply line at the same time....

I've seen the AI use stellar manipulation lots of times. Try playing a "Cluster Wars" game with max AI. Just select a large cluster quadrant map with the option "All Warp Points Connected" deselected. You will get 10-12 isolated clusters of systems. As soon as the AI gets open warp point technology, the map gets quite confusing http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif Systems all across the map will be linked together, and there will be portions that will be difficult to see because there are so many warp lines.

I've also seen the AI convert asteroid systems, and create/destroy a few storms. I have yet to see any sun nukes, black holes, or nebulae.

Oh, and this isn't with modded races, all are the standard canned ones. You just need to give them a bit of space and the motivation http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

I played a game where the EEE were the leaders. Yes, they were bigger than ME, the sole human in the game! They actually triggered Mege Evil Empire! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif And when relations with them started to get sticky they started sending cloaked Planet Destroyers and Sun Destroyers through the warp points into my systems! I was prepared, fortunately. Lots of defenses and level 3 tachyon sensors already in place. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif If they had been just a bit smarter, like opened new warp points and then sent the Sun Destroyers in by that route, it might have been a really tough situation.

I've seen the AI build lots of other Stellar Manipulations ships, but only rarely do they seem to use them. And sometimes when they do they get the order mixed up. These same EEE were trying to use "Create Sun" in a Nebula system before they had used "Destroy Nebula" for example. I've seen them close off warp points once or twice but never open them.

Yes, once. I placed a game that had all races with advanced tech at the start. I was surprised to see the AI creating warp points. Cost me a lot of time tracking them down and killing them off. I lost several worlds, and lots of ships.
