Is there a file you can edit, where you can change the weapons you start out with? I ask this because i'm trying my first hand at modding myself.

Yup. Edit the haven.ini file in the quests folder.

Actually, that changes the weapons available for purchase at Haven/Glory. I think what he was asking for was how to change the weapons actually on your ship.

To do that, you have to alter the ship entry in the terran.ini file.
