damn script kiddies

shame on me for posting this, but looks like some no-talent script-kiddie cracked the PBW server. they didn't just hit the main page either, as far as i can tell. hope they just got the web frontend and that the server is okay.

and i was finally ready to upload the long awaited first turn for Puke's Smash TV game, too. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif

edit: the site may be sending harmless redirects, but you should consider it and the site it is directing you to as 'Hostile Web Sites' That means do not visit unless you are absolutely positive that both your browser and your PC are secure. And no, that does not mean some personal firewall software that you installed without knowing how to properly configure. And yes, that does mean that all those java or active-x things that you thought were cool might bite you in the arse. browse responsibly, people.

I must say, I have no idea where you got this idea.

The site is running fine, and intact. There have been no modifications of any functionality from what is stored in source control.

Hey Puke. I deal with security all the time ( inside GM ) and if your interested in some links or articles on the subject send me an email.

P.S. This in no way was ment as an insult. Computer Security is a very interesting field.

i keep trying to reply to this thread, but for some reason its not getting thru. very odd. maybe this time.

in any event, it looks like PBW.CC has been hijacked at Pacific-Bell's DNS servers. More likely than not, it was done by one of their internal helpdesk monkies with nothing better to do, who thought it looked like a under-travelled domain. they are redirecting to 157.238.204.6, which i would advise against visiting. Their Cache will probably clear by the time my trouble ticket goes through, but just so it is known, no pac-bell customers (at least none using the name server i am on, i have no way of knowing if only my local caching server is affected or if it is their central nameservers) are getting to the PBW site without using either the straight IP or an alternate nameserver.

blea. i hate the internet, its full of morons with nothing better to do than to *** with other peoples networks. they should spend that extra energy biking, or playing se4, or jerking off.

that is a problem, indeed. almost of the same degree as a slightly older Hanks' movie where they cast Dungeons and Dragons players as a bunch of murdering satanists who run around in the sewers.

Re: damn script kiddies

Puke: it was probably a series of ip's including the one that the PBW server is using. Maybe they tried to grab people going to yahoo.com, or something, and in the process caught the PBW server within the range of ip's that they had changed.

Anyway, on the part of your ISP, is bad practise. More than likely it was one of the exploits that came to the forefront about 6 months ago. Shoddy shoddy.
