Supply Settings

Do you put supply settings on 50 or 300 to make supply less lethal?

It's much more interesting when supplies are at normal or less)

Re: Supply Settings

I like them set at 50, usually, unless I want an easier time with Niefelheim etc.

Re: Supply Settings

Yes but Ive heard that the AI does not handle supply so Im trying to give the AI all the help it can get.

I thought it was 300 but I tried 50 and I saw several provinces with supply of 1000 or more. Are the supply settings screwed up? Ive never seen provinces with supply this high when the settings were set to 300...

Supply at 150 and using Better Independents mod has given me good results, the AI does not starve too easily. Unless it has death scale.

Re: Supply Settings

With AI opponents I recommend 275 or 300... during middle and late game the computer opponents with healthy scales almost always take the lead over the computer opponents with poor scales. As time progresses it will be marching armies of 400 then 500 then 800... it needs high supplies to match the growing force.

Re: Supply Settings

I wanted to also add that it's easy to create an insanely powerful AI opponent.

First:
Use the map edit commands to give Niefelheim or Argatha(early_age) healthy scales. Order 2 or 3, Luck 2 or 3 and Growth 2 or 3 seem to work best when used all at the same time.

Second:
Test the map with all human players to verify the scales appeared as you planned. One or two turns should work.

Third:
Setup one or more of these computer opponents as Impossible, set independents for 5 or 6... and watch them dominate the map.

P.S. ~ If your looking for a computer opponent with strong research use Tien Chi as a computer opponent and follow the steps above.

Excellent info. Do you have a Niefelheim or Agartha full build that Ballbarian can use for SemiRand?

I would love to see more well-designed setups for each nation added to the SemiRand program. I understand why the Dom3 program is mostly just random and thats fine. But some nation files that use specifically well chosen pretenders with specific designs (scales, dominion, magic) for that nation, maybe even some added starting units, equipment for the god, magic sites, etc would be great for the community. Too few well-designed pretenders for that program gets old as fast as totally random ones. We need to build up that library so that every nation has too many possible builds for you to anticipate who it is you are fighting.

If everyone turned in one design, it wouldnt even have to be a particularly kick-butt design (those might all be too much alike), then SemiRand could generate some really fun solo games. It would also be a great format to toss in some major surprise builds. Doing one around a specific unusual tactic or scales to see how well the AI does with it

Re: Supply Settings

Perhaps a "submit the pretender you are currently playing" contest on the MP forum? That gives the nation and the general idea, which can be edited a little. As an example, double 9 bless Vanheim might have Order 9 Sloth 3 Drain 2 Cold 3, but the negative scales could be left undefined. That way, the nation will always have high bless and Order 3, but the other scales will vary.
Giving 10 priests and few sacred units to the nations that are supposed to use their sacreds would help as well. That would increase the chance of the sacred units being actually blessed.
