spell casting imbued items and encumberance
my first impression was that items with a castable spell do not incur encumbrance upon casting that spell. I then realized this might be a bit naive. So how does encumbrance work with these items?
Will casting their spell incur the "spell casting encumbrance", or just basic encumbrance, or no encumbrance at all? note: i could test myself, but i'm feeling a bit lazy, and thought someone might know off hand; plus others can benefit from the wisdom. I suppose I'm pulling out some "forum capital" on this one, not that I have any |
Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
Each casting of the spell from the item causes 5 encumbrance. It is a constant and is affected by nothing. Neither basic encumbrance or even scales in the province seem to have any effect.

Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
thanks Ano.
*pays Ano some forum capital * also, is the quickness thing a feature, or a bug? will it be going away, or is it here to stay. I think it is a nice feature, it makes these items worth wanting and using. and it isn't overpowering, not like your casting earthquake or anything. I think Falling Frost is the most powerful available, and thats on an artifact. |
Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
I think it was something like 5 fatigue per item-spell, regardless of the actual spell, in DomII. I might remember that wrong, or it might have been just Skull Talisman.

Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
Yes, you can cast it twice with quickness for 10 fatigue per turn. I also don't know if it is a feature...
Btw, take a look at the Staff of Corrosion. Among the simple and cheap items it looks rather powerful and also you may cast quickness with some mage and not give the quickness item to commander. Requires a bit testing though. Buffing spells tend to target the most powerful creatures and quickness spell probably also behaves that way. |

My buddy refers to a commander with the Staff of Corrosion and Boots of Quickness as an "MG42". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smirk.gif

Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
Staff of Corrosion, Boots of Quickness and some reinvigoration stuff make for a frightening combination...

Re: spell casting imbued items and encumberance
It's a pity Master Smiths can't get a Water random. Staff of Corrosion and Boots of Quickness with 50% forge bonus is even better. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif
