bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
1 Attachment(s)
sorry for a second post, but i have been unable to attach a zip file for my reply of the first post
no comment after 10 days? anyway, since i have a savegame of all my long campaign missions at the start and end, i have been able to track back the original error it concerns the section AM, which is a new support section that did not occupy a slot from a deleted core section. you can see it at the beginning of the scenario, and there is a savegame at the end, when you can upgrade repair you troops slot am can not be used any longer, can you tell me the reason why is my savegame corrupted or is this a bug? is there a fix for that? thank you francois |

If it was a common problem everyone playing a LC would see it too but there may be a specific combination of events that has caused this in your game but, again, it started with the previous release they you patched and continued playing. In most cases except PBEM this isn't a problem but we do suggest old games be ended before patching so I would suggest ending this one and starting a new one as obviously this has been a problem for you for quite awhile Don |
Re: bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
thx for the answer, but... this is a quite harsh answer from my point of view i need perhaps 5-6 days of real life to complete a single mission (because of wife, job, children...), and now i am at about at 12 or 13 missions and about at 8 missions from the first bug/corrupt game that's...60 days of real life ough! i do not know what i will do, but i do hope that in release 3.5 of winspww2 the editors will check the sections in the cross attachement screen and delete ghost sections i feat that problems are increasing now. i my original post, i said that the numbering of the section was now also bugged/corrupted (like at0 at1 au2 au3 av4 av5...) and this is new... thx anyway francois |
Re: bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
A good Commander would work around those problems. Don't berate these guys, they do an absolutely excellent job. Be sides you seem to be the only one with this problem, maybe it is corrution within your computer or setup.

And how much time do you think Don and Andy have put into developing this game, analyzing and removing bugs etc.? They have used years of their lifes doing this, for free, to bring you and the rest of us a very good free game - dont you think they have real life commitments? You have reported you problem, you have got an answer and it is clearly a problem that concerns mainly you and your computer which, as PanzerBob says, suggest that it is a problem localized to you and your machine. It is your problem, deal with it and stop whining http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/smile.gif cbo |
Re: bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
eh guys,
i was not requesting an immediate solution. i am a sensible man, do you know, not a geek that stamps on his feet because his game does not work any longer i was not complaining about not being proposed a fix for my problem. i was complaining about the only proposed solution, i.e. to restart all my long compaign. and if you think that, as a general, i was in a stalemate, yo are wrong. i have this problem for several weeks now, and i kept to fight with my army full of holes filled in by ghost sections. the problem is now that numbering of platoons become also incorrect. but, as a general, i found a solution: buy platoons, then delete incorrectly numbered sections, then buy again new sections of the same types that next i cross-attach to get back a correct full platoon but i fear that problems will become worse and worse 1) a single support section became a ghost section 2) all support sections put in the slots of deleted core sections become ghost sections 3) now numbering of new core sections becomes incorrect 4) in 1942, general rout at turn 1? 5) a nuclear bomb on my computer in 1943? moreover i did restart a new long compaign, but only to test the problem of ghost sections filling gap in my core army i did not mention this in this new topic, because with the new savegames i provided this is not the original reason the answer is no . support sections using slots of deleted core troops do not become ghost sections... if they are not artillery troops... and with release 3... and at least on my computer ;-) i do not know what happened with my mission... and to put a little bit of refresh air, no, i am not whining. last week i received two real tanks of the forces of valor brand. do you know these die cast models? very good value for your bucks... francois |
Re: bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
Francois,
Have you tried wiping the game and reloading? To me this problem does sound serious, but you seem to be the only one with the problem. At this stage solving the problem would be number one, although I feel for you having to dump an excellent campaign, I'm a campaigner myself. I'm curious when did this ghost problem appear? How far along in the campaign? In my experience, problems of this nature usually manifest themselves in the opening stages of a started game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/cool.gif |
Re: bug with ghost platoon in long campaign
thx for the answer
currently i am very busy, and cannot put my hands on the game. when i checked all my savegame of every missions three days ago, i found out that the first problem appeared after 3-4 battles, but i did not notice it. i noticed it later, when deleted core sections were replaced by previous support troops. i will check more carefully in 2-3 days. francois |
