SE4 Modder Tool question
 

Hello again, gentlemen.

Here's what I figure. I figure that SE5 doesn't cut it. Regardless of its current state, there's fundamental design concepts I just can't agree with. Unnecessary 3D and real-time combat.

I still love SE IV, and have never been a multi-player of the game; single only. So I think I'm going to go ahead and do something I planned to do for years: Create a simple-technology mod designed at keeping the armoury and colony technologies simple enough that even the AI won't get confused, thus creating a challenging experience for the single-player game.

If you've read this far, I'd like some refresh on something. DavidG's Modder tool, specifically. I've been to SpaceEmpires.net and downloaded the Modder tool, but I do seem to recall he released an unofficial patch/modification/update to *just* the .exe to fix something simple.

Are all these tools up to date? Specifically the AI research tool, the SE4 Modder, and the image packs?

For organizational purposes, SE4 questions should be posted in the SE4 forum.

The SE4 Modder probably doesn't handle the 1.93+ mp3-based settings properly, as it hasn't been updated since Deluxe was released. Other than that, it should be ok. There hasn't been much added to or changed in the data files in years (since early Gold patches, really).

The formatting of the TechAreas.txt and AI_Research.txts files have not changed since the game came out, so the AI research tool should be ok.

I'm not aware of any submissions to the Image Mod that haven't been added to it.

There are pending images to be added to the image mod. You might want to get a good number from SJ. I know that I have about 100 more to add including the over 100 I sent SJ a month or so ago.
