Is the Prophet considered a magic being?

Playing R'yleh I made the standard Commander the prophet (a Slave Prince-non magical).

I recruited some Infantry and some Lobo Guards (magical units) and tried to put them in the Prophets army.

The Infantry was no problem but the Magical Lobo Guards would NOT join the army.

My question is:

When the Commander became th eProphet he became a Lvl 3 Priest and sacred.

Isn't that considered Magical so he can lead Magic troops?

I tried this 3 rimes thinking I may have a problem with the game so I rebooted and tried the game from the start....no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Prophets can't lead magical units unless they have magic leadership. Most magical units can lead magic beings, as can all mages, and Astral mages better than others. Click on Leadership to see the normal, undead and magic leadership values of a commander.

Mindless units die if left without a proper commander. Also, pages 56 and 85 of the manual.

Thanks, I knew You had to have a magical leader to lead magical troops....

I guess I didn't really know the definition of 'Magical' in D3.

And sinxe it seems like all the magical commanders in R'yleh has a leadership value of 10 to start with.....

I guess It was wishful thinking.

Do you think I should make my Prophet a magical being that has that low of a leadership ability but has high hit points and good magic (R'yleh)?

I have never played a water nation and am a Nppb on top of that.

Thanks!!!!

In MA, I always Prophetize the starting Illithid Lord. He's 40 Regular and 40 Magic leadership, is physically strong, and I won't have to choose between Smite and all of the wonderful goodies that R'lyeh's mages can cast.

In EA, the choice isn't quite so simple if you want Magic Leadership on him very badly. Personally I would also Prophet the Prince, and just have an Aboleth travel with him to carry the Lobos/Thralls.

EA is fun, but by no means easy to play. If this is SP and you are intrigued by R'lyeh, you may want to start with MA, their advantages are significantly easier to exploit. Then once you have the hang of what it means to be an aquatic nation, then switch back to EA and learn what it means to be STUCK in the ocean, and have to really struggle to get out. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif By all means, you can keep trying to learn EA first - I did a lot of that type of thing when I first started playing as well, but it can be painful and frustrating. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

If you right-click on the Leadership statistic on a unit, it will tell you how many units of each type it's able to lead. You'll then find that your R'lyeh commanders can, in fact, lead huge numbers of magic beings.

Re: Is the Prophet considered a magic being?

If you want to see whether a unit is magical or not, check his statistics screen. The properties of the unit are listed above the magic paths (is he/she fire resistant, prophet, pretender, diseased, stealthy, etc. ?)
Magical units display a special icon (a kind of fey).

I don't know how you could make your prophet a magic unit if his chassis do not say 'I am a magic unit'. But if you empower him with whatever path, he will be able to lead a few magical units. Not sure it's worth the price, however...

Crown of Command gives magic leadership, and you have Astral so you can forge it once you research Construction. It's not going to help you in the early game, though.
