lbm Picture Map & shp Icon Viewer
I have two questions:
1. Is there a map for the lbm picture files? 2. Does anyone know if there's a plug-in or a way I can view shp files without using Fred's Editor. I have Photoshop CS, Irfanview, Paint.net. It would be nice if one of these had a plug-in for shp files. thanks, |
Re: lbm Picture Map & shp Icon Viewer
1) No.
2) Why do you think Fred created his editor in the first place?. SHP files are a format only used by the proprietary game library that SSI used way back when. It came with a DOS command line utility to create SHP files from TGAs - but no utilities to directly view them or edit them once created. LBM was a widely used Atari format decades back, and these days precious few imaging programmes have a utility for viewing let alone editing them. (Irfanview for example is view only - no editing or saving in that format). Cheers Andy |

Disclaimer: I in no way am an expert, so feel free to correct/add-to.
LBMs and shps I've only had infranview, MSPaint, and Paint.net to edit icons and lbms. I fooled around w/ LBMs a few months ago, and I IIRC there is a plugin or somesuch to where I could open an LBM from the game, edit/paste in an original LBM and save it (with a new #). End result was I made new LBMs that worked in-game, except I didn't use the game pallete (just experimented w/ saving/editing using random pics off my HD) and the colors were funky. However, I believe the ones I made using the palette (line drawings) worked just fine. Unfortunately, since then I have not only upgraded (overwriting the LBMs) but also recovered from a crash (losing infranview etc). For shps, if you're AR enough, use shpedit, load the palette, open each shp file, and using collage viewer save collage (as say Icon0000_A.bmp). Then type 36 in the image# block and hit collage, save again (Icon0000_B.bmp), then type 72 in the image# block so on until you've saved (usually 3) bmp collages from each shp file. Then use the master icon list to go through them and figure out what they are/icon # in MobHack. It's great if say you want a T-62 w/ scythes on the roadwheels. Open master icon, control-F "T-62" cross-check to the collage bmp you need, open your bmp editor, add scythes, etc. |
