Unrest Generating Sites
 
I have a province that must be generating tons of unrest - its at 230 now even with taxes at 0. I searched it with my national mages (no blood or death) and haven't found any sites. Wondering whether its worth it to cast Acashic Record? I checked out Edi's DB but didn't see any notes on what sites cause unrest. The only I remember offhand are those lame Blood sites where you can recruit Villains but I don't recall the unrest getting so high.

Anyone know of a list shows magic sites that cause unrest (or did I miss it somehow in Edi's DB)? Thoughts on using Acashic record? I have never cast it, I am pretty cheap with gems and prefer manual searching so 25 S seems way to steep but if there is some cool site....?

Somehow, the ability to generate 235 Unrest doesn't coincide with my classification of "cool site". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

But, I really am not sure that's entirely possible, from what magic sites actually do. I'm inclined to guess it's more plausible that some event happened like the bandit lord or the monster boar, and you forgot about it - that's happened to me a couple of times, though it's never gotten so high. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif

SP game? Worth it just for curiosity's sake. MP maybe not. Might it be the work of unrest causing enemies? I'm not sure if all of those come with messages.

MP - I don't really play SP and wouldn't hesitate to cast Acashic record if it were SP. Also, it's not enemies - the site is just one of those provinces that would otherwise be useless (no fort, lab, etc) - I am not missing anything from the unrest.

I am pretty sure I haven't had any negative events but I'll go back and check. Plus I have never seen an event take it so high...

Anyway, as for it being cool, I don't care about the unrest since it is not a useful province for recruiting, but I am tantalized that there may be some big gems / blood slaves that go along with all that Unrest generation. I'd love to know what sites generate unrest...

Edi's db does actually say which magic sites cause unrest.. the most common one I have seen is the brigand layer, which is a blood site and not worth a special search at all in my opinion.

There are others that are possible though, some of them might be decent http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hmm...I scanned and then Ctrl+F'ed on Edi's Magic Sites tab for "Unrest" and didn't see anything. I see where he shows scale changes - but the scales on this particular province are fine. Its just the unrest.

Ok, I just looked through all my turns. No negative events. The province had 297 unrest after I first took it over...

Devil's Den
Forest of Pain
The Demon Gate
The Prison of Hearts
The Vale of Infinite Horror

Those are all blood sites that cause unrest from 5 to 15 I believe. At some point I got this data from one of Edi's databases which I used in the SemiRandom province and god editors. I just did a quick scan and came up with those six.

How positive are you that another player has not just parked a spy (or ten spies http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif ) on that province causing unrest?

Just to expand on what I said..

brigand lair, blood 1, not worth it
devils den, blood 2, probably good if you have a blood mage (which you dont, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif )
forest of pain, blood 2, produces a nature gem each month so that makes it worthwhile in my book
inkpot end, death 0, I dont think you have to search for level 0 sites so it shouldnt be this
the demon gate, blood 3, probably good if you have a blood mage
the lesser abyss, blood 1, probably good if you have a blood mage
the prison of hearts, blood 3, it produces 40 gold a month
the shaded lands, death 0, probably not this
the vale of infinite horror, blood 1, increases misfortune and has a chance of horror marking any unit there.. so it doesnt do you any good to find it except to know never to store anyone there http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
tower of the devils bride, blood 1, probably not good even if you have a blood mage

Positive. The province had 297 unrest when I took it. No way it had spies. It would be a complete waste to use spies as its just a no-name useless province on the far edge of the map.

Coldshard: thanks for taking the time to write those down. after I saw the sites you listed, I looked at Edi's DB again and see the unrest sites are under a column called "unr" which is why I couldn't find them when I searched for "unrest".
