picking up cargo/fighters?

Does it take a turn of movement to pick up things like fighters?

It doesn't have to. Since I'm assuming you're referring to a simultaneous movement game you'd have to stack a couple of orders together. You'd use one of the remote cargo orders (forget exact name) picking what you want to pick up - then follow that up with a move order etc. to another sector. The ship should attempt to pickup whatever was requested and then move to its next target.

Say I have 10 movement points. There is a fighter squadron in the hex I occupy. If I pick it up and then move my maximum, will I move 9 or 10?
Thanks, DB

It seems to me that you can load/unload a certain number per movement point depending on how many landing bays you have. So the number of movement points it takes to load the fighters will depend on how many you are trying to pick up. It might be that your ship will still be loading fighters when the turn finishes and thus will not move further.

I base this on having had a carrier that was trying to drop fighters but still had some on board when the turn finished.

If I remember right, the bays only effect 'launching', not 'recovery.'
