Battle results that make you go huh?

I had some basically useless units, although one was a caster. (This guy was quite insane and quite old--not someone I could count on.)

Since I don't have the unit-killer mod installed I did it the old fashioned way--I attacked the enemy. The enemy pretender was there.

The caster decides to go with Phoenix Pyre and Fire Shield. I get whalloped, he dies and it triggers. This wipes out the rest of my force, he routs.

Thus begins a crazy dance. I keep trying to run away, his pretender keeps chasing me down. (Why he never threw a spell I don't know--another caster kept throwing thorns at me, not a single hit.) His pretender has a fair speed advantage, I never manage to get away, each time I'm intercepted and the pyre triggers again, not to mention the damage he's taking from my fire shield.

The fatigue is building up, each trigger now puts me past 100 and I recover just in time to be whacked again. Finally I resurrect too close and he gets me--but the fire shield takes him with me.

End result: A mother of monsters is dead entirely from hitting me!

That's hilarious!

One of the nice things about Dom3 is that it accurately depicts the ability to do more damage, losing a battle, than you sometimes do winning one.

And just because someone's old, insane, or otherwise afflicted, doesn't mean they can't make great generals. Atleast in real life :P

in a game I deleted for reasons not relevant (ok, because I wanted the disband unit mod and couldnt load it on ongoing games) I was using my customized Warrior of Prophecy pretender, and had trouble with arcocesphale. They had decimated one of my armies, and were pushing me back. I sent a medium army along with my pretender, and they were attacked by the cyclops pretender of Arc, with about six militias. My heavy cav ganged on him and brought him down.

I was playing the no independents mod. I had a seductress and had her seduce a lion tribe province planning to pickup a indy mage. Instead she ended up successfully seducing an ordinary lion tribe warrior(?). With the no independents mod the unit has a gold cost of 8000 or something like that and the upkeep destroyed my income. So next turn I sent him solo into an indy province to kill him off. Going through the new turn messages I get a battle report that he captured the province????? On the replay the indies routed without anyone striking a blow.

Of course I still had no income because of his upkeep and sent him to battle again. Got the anticipated result the second time.

I was a little too astonished to perform an analysis on the initial battle

If you seduce/assassinate all the enemy commanders in a province, the units will route automatically.

I know that C'Tis' miasma effect also hits neutrals underneath it, so you could potentially disease the leader, and then when he died move in.

That is what probably happened. It was a few months ago, and to be honest I don't even remember what I had for breakfast.

Also the animal tribes always have two commanders: one mage and the second one depends on poptype. For lion tribe it is simple GoRed lion tribe warrior
