Afghan Mod

1 Attachment(s)
Here is the new afghan OOB mod I have been working on for some months.
This is a mod focused on the government forces (the royal era army, the DRA period and the new ANA),
insurgents, taliban etc were overwritten with the closest government units available.
Weapons, units and formations have been modified on the basis of the research I have done.
Some of the changes
- Sarandoy,(soviet-afghan war era paramilitary added), commando and airborne units added.
- soviet weapons showing up only when they were actually delivered
(as in Iraq this only happened after a certain date)
- some early armor and units added (CL-33 tanks, Hawker Hind planes and the like)
- units stats modified to be more accurate etc..

Disclaimer
"This mod contains highly altered or additional files that may or will cause interference with the master game files and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that this mod be installed and played ONLY in a separate copy of the game and NOT run from the master game"

Sounds good to me, especially the research on early equipment. I'll be sure to check it out when I get a chance.

Re: Afghan Mod

To be fair there are not many sources about the 1946- mid fifties period, so some things (artillery and formations especially) are educated guesses.
The air force is relatively well documented. For the armor I relied mostly on pictures of vehicles on display in some military museum in Kabul and a reference I found in italian sources. I found bits of info here and there about rifles, LMGs HMGs and mortars. Artillery was not documented beyond a reference to "czech artillery" so I settled for czech 75mm mountain howitzers and the ubiquitous 18 pdr field guns to go with the rest of the british equipment. I left the 2 pdr antitanks guns and the Bofors AA, though who knows. Given that they were still apparently flying 30's biplanes as the main attack planes well into the second half of the 50's I bet the army was not swimming in modern equipment. It seems they remained a typical 30's third world army, with some WW2 surplus probably obtained from India, until they began getting soviet assistance.
