Global Spells

I just reread the WHOLE manual now that I have played a few games and have found a LOT of stuff I missed the first 2 times thru.

But there is one thing I just can't fins and I see it cropping up in MP all the time.

I know how to script Battle spells, Cast Ritual spells...But HOW do I do a Global enchantment.

I have the gems, I have 3 different type mage type units but I can't figure out HOW to do it.

Can anyone help me or tell me WHERE in the manual its hiding....

Thanks in advance:confused:

Re: Global Spells

Global enchantments are cast like any other ritual spell - you cast using a mage in a province with a laboratory

You need the:
• Appropriate research
• Appropriate magic levels on caster
• Sufficient gems

With those you can cast it. It may not come into effect if either it has already been cast by someone else, or 5 spells are already in play. In either case it contests against an existing spell, the manual describes the mechanics

Re: Global Spells

Globals are casted the same as ritual spells.

Here are a few global spells:

Gift of Health (nature)
Mechnical Militia (earth)
The Kindly Ones (fire)
Gale Gate (air)

Hope this helps!

Re: Global Spells

The key difference between casting a Ritual spell and a Global spells is that when you go to Cast Ritual Spell and pick a Global, it gives you the option of adding more gems to the casting.

The other difference is that only five globals can be active at once, but the manual discusses that pretty well.

Re: Global Spells

So I guess I have never 'qualified' for a global spell.

I have uses some ritual spells like scrying as arco ect.

I guess my question was WHY can't I cast one....Now I know I don'r have all the qualifacations to cast it.

Thanks, guess I will read that #@%&^* 400 page Manual 1 more time (sigh).

Exactly which global spell are you trying to cast?

My guess is that most likely you don't have a mage with enough magic paths. For example if you want to cast Gift of Health you'll need a nature mage with FIVE nature.

My second guess would be that your current game already has the maximum of five globals in existence. This means you'd need to place lots of extra gems into your casting OR dispell one of the existing globals.

Re: Global Spells

I'm guessing that the reason that you cannot cast globals is that you do not have a mage with high enough paths. The lowest number of levels that permit casting a global is 5. There are quite a few at 5 in A,E,N and W and a few others scattered about in other paths. There is a section in the manual listing globals and requirements.

But 5 levels in a single path for a recruitable mage is rare, especially if you are playing MA or LA, and to get to level 5 usually requires boosting by forged items and/or empowerment.

I think that will resolve your dilemna.

EDIT:

NT Jedi, you posted while I was typing (slowly).
