cluster mortars
anyone tried swedish STRIX mortar
it gives 10 cluster rounds / turn AMOS does it too twice as effective as russian nona cluster mortar and almost same cost my opponent used strix and amos against me and they were pretty rough on my forces might be the best artillery in the game ? |
Re: cluster mortars
I wouldn't go as far as calling it the best. The STRIX rounds lack the penetration to reliably take out MBTs. They are, however, real killers when used against IFVs and APCs.
And yeah, the STRIX rounds you are firing aren't exactly cluster munitions in real life. Just guided anti-tank shells with HEAT charges. The cluster rounds are just a somewhat accurate way to represent them in game. However I have no idea what the heck the AP ammo in the AMOS designated SSG 120 is supposed to represent. They can't be the STRIX rounds, too low penetration for that. - Koh |
Re: cluster mortars
STRIX projectile
Try this link, if anything the game may model this weapon less effective than it may actually be. Interesting concept and very hard to counter IMO. I'm presently using them for the first time, and they are quite effective and accurate, the accuracy part I find very helpful. Good bang for the buck. Bob out :D |
Re: cluster mortars
I recall reading about a cluster warhead the USMC plans for their new 120mm Dragon mortar system. Given it's magazine and rate of fire it should be pretty nasty.
