Thanks Andy
;)Hello Andy.
Wasn't sure where to post it since I only own SPMBT. Got it -MBT CD- as soon as it came out; had waited on it since durn near '95. I also own all the SP123. I am writing to thank you for your hard work and for allowing Fred Chlanda's map editor to be compatible with SPMBT. As a result of this and many other improvements [too many to list] you have made for the SP2 original game in it's MBT incarnation, I thank you. Gus DVCC ----using Fred's editors I have made modern carriers USN/RN/CiS ----jump jet units that come off these carriers ----helo carriers and helo units that come off these carriers ----now I have 20+ edits (water to level 15) for terrain, along with hex height, building height, defense values etc... ----maps of towns and roads that can be rotated so that the game can always be played E-W or W-E... ----small towns, roads, alleys, Ardenne ravine, with hex stack limits, that if a unit were destroyed then that hexes stacking limit plummets by one - with zero indeed possible. This had been a very good year indeed. Thanking you in advance, Andy. Sincerely, Gus Rodriguez |

Re: Thanks Andy
Hello.
Hopefully sometime soon. I've been working on combining Open GL graphics rendering with Steel Panthers. The images are neet in 'Op-GL' because within certain size parameters you can scroll using the mouse wheel to get close or to move away from any on map image. As well, by using a keyboard input you can move from 2d to 3d - which is unsupported in SP since the map is only 2d - and the grahpics are only 8 bit w/ 256 vga gotta run.. |

By modular reasoning I can then make maps of otherwise exceedingly large areas (Ardennes-East Front) in any weather and in of 6 (hexagon) alignments thus allowing for attacks from and N-S direction - attacking players option; with town and village maps down to the 40 yard hex distance of the game. For the moment though putting a camera in the game and supporting the 2D or 3D point of view -player's option; with sunset vistas (What else?! Shaders and Open GL plus any late editions SGI made to their SHP file type (if it goes open source that is))... So, busy busy busy, but once done I will make myself a nice on map villa and watch the sun go down and eat fish from the cool glacier fed stream (while Canada has some that is ...ahahaha). DVCC |
Re: Thanks Andy
Thanks for the responce, I'll give that try and see what happens. Once one becomes one with these editor:Ds and such it starts opening up much more possiblities in the Game!!
Which is a grand thing!! Bob out:D |
Re: Thanks Andy
This all sounds pretty awesome could you post an example map please.
Being able to rotate the map sounds great. Plus sounds like you have figured out how to adjust height of things. Water at elevation means I could now build that dam I have been wanting to. Watching this space |
