no smoking
my opponent is bombing my units every turn with bomblets
i know he gots 1 uragan + 1 grad cm bomblet but now things have gone out of hand and i really dont know what is happening the thing is he is bombing me every turn with bomblets without smoke there is no smoke from the bomblets or ayn of his artillerys havent been in quite a while he gots 4 tulpans 2 akatsya cluster and 1 uragan and 1 grad cm bomblet the year is 85 and he is soviet and i am lebanon in the beginning of the game his artillery did put smoke when shot i saw uragan smoke and 3 akatsya smoke which i scouted with plane (which i cant do anymore there are 2 gecko sam:s and i got only 2 ob plane ... is suicide in early game i got 6 and could flood the sam's for scouting) tulpan smoke i never saw but my opponent said there was some what really is going on in this ? my best quess is he got some new tactic to not get caught with his artillery by smoke giving the positions off but he said he got none might he be in some kind of hex where is flames with 1 uragan + 2 ammo carriers and parking there + shoting every turn ... might that be the case ? any ideas... would help me a lot to know what is going on other thing is why wont infantry shoot helicopters anymore ? is it in 4.0 that helicopters cannot be shot with infantry isn't it kinda unrealistic ... i mean even i could shoot to the sky with ak-47 and i see it in videos that kurdi's and all cool people do it all the time so why cant my soldiers with military education shoot to sky with their ak-47:s or something ? i had a situation where hind was 350m away from my SLA section and it could not shoot the hind but the hind shot it when i shot another thing (ural truck) that and the artillery thing is kinda frustrating to max (not to mention lebanon dont have any sam's expect hizbollah in -85.. pretty tough against helicopters) |
Re: no smoking
could it affect that in the middle of a map there is lots of destroyed vehicles ? then the artillery fire seems not to come because it is not seen of so many smoke from destroyed vehicles ? (never happened though)
could the vision 0 FO:s affect this ? if so how much ? in previous versions like 3.5 i remember having none fo and still see the smoke of enemy artillery's |
Re: no smoking
Yeah I'm pretty sure seeing smoke has nothing to do with FOs. It could be that your enemy is somehow shooting only a few rounds every turn, thus creating no smoke.
Doesn't sound too strange as I've had this happen in pretty much every game I've played. I'd say it's intended behaviour. |
Re: no smoking
When I fire a uragan there is smoke left on map after it's fired. When I move a helicopter over infantry both at high and low altitude they fire at it
What you don't tell us is what kind of PBEM game you are playing whether its a single battle or campaign and what the visibility is. A save game is always helpful. You can arrange to send the PW privately Don |

However, if the helicopter is moving, then the infantry will only shoot at it from close range (around 3 hexes away). Griefbringer |
Re: no smoking
Is it possible your opponent is only using 1 or 2 rockets (wpns slots) during his firing phase? This may account for less smoke, maybe.

Re: no smoking
he is shooting like with grad cm 40 rounds / bang so that should make smoke it's full ammo loadout (with uragan only couple of every turn)
visibility is 55 and it's one battle meeting no campaing |
Re: no smoking
Well. Are you absolutely sure that they are on map units? Maybe your enemy is being sneaky and has renamed his off map grads to confuse you?
|
Re: no smoking
i think that is not the case
|
Re: no smoking
Well the answer has to be something like that becasue everybody else sees smoke when these things fire.
The only way we can really check a PBEM is if you send us the save and both players passwords. Don |
