MMG or BAR
 

In OOB12 (US Army), units from 393 to 397 are Dmntd Armd Inf equipped with 30cal M1919 MMG. Obviously they took the MMG on M3 with them. The problem is that they much cheaper than those armd Inf equipped with BAR. From the cost calculator I think the reason is that BAR is indicated as LMG while 30cal M1919 MMG is not. An Inf squad equipped with LMG seems to get some bonus thus increases its cost. But I think it is not reasonably for an Inf with MMG to be cheaper than one with just a BAR.

Correct - the weapon class 2 determines LMG bonus, and rifle sections dont carry MMG weapon class 3. The cost calc already adds for MMG sections, who are the true users of tripod MMG (and get the splash bonus).

These units should probably be equipped with weapon No. 145 (The 1919 on a bipod, W/C 2).
