Another Movement Question
OK, I'm sure this has been answered before, in one of the numerous old movement-related threads, so I apologize if I'm bringing up old business. I just think it will be easier (for me at least) to ask again and get a quick reply, and then let this thread die off. Thanks in advance for any answers :)
So here's the situation: The enemy has one of your fortresses under siege, and have broken down your walls. They will certainly storm the fort next turn. You'd like to Cloud Trapeze, Teleport, etc., in some heavy-duty combat mages to defend the place. Will they appear inside with the defenders, and help foil the enemy attack? Or will they appear outside the fortress during the "magic" phase, and attack the besiegers solo, and thus likely meet a gruesome and pointless demise? Or something else? Thanks again for any answers! PS I did check the FAQs, but didn't find any section or other information on Movement. Might it be a good idea to add something about that to the FAQs? |
Re: Another Movement Question
I'm pretty sure they will engage the army outside the fort before the storming, I'm not sure if you also ordered your besieged force to break siege if everyone would show up at the same time, though my guess is no, you would have two separate attacks.
best bet is to actually suicide them (or use returning or something to pull them back out, this won't work if its at your capitol though I think) while they spam you a few rounds of something particularly nasty to hopefully damage the besieger enough that his ultimate storming fails. |
Re: Another Movement Question
As I recall, if you Teleport a SC on top of a besieging army he will wind up inside the fort and you'll have to order him to Break Siege the next round. I find this annoying, so I typically have someone fly in instead w/ Winged Boots, resulting in an immediate attack. I expect Cloud Trapeze to work the same way.
I.e. in your situation, they wind up inside the fort helping the defenders. -Max |
Re: Another Movement Question
Some conflicting information here, so I'm not sure who to thank. Can anyone else confirm either licker or Max?

Re: Another Movement Question
Seconded MaxWilson - transport spells invariably dump you in with the defenders.

Re: Another Movement Question
Max is right.
If you did want to have some magic attacks on siegers of your fort, you'd have to cast independent summons that vanish after the battle, like Ghost Riders. |
Re: Another Movement Question
Thanks you guys!
