Missile weapons

Not a single one of the items in Dominions 3 has the "Missile weapon" type, they're all Two-handed weapon types. Does somebody have an explanation for this? What does the "Missile weapon" type do if modded on an item?

Why don't you try it and see?

I'm guessing it's a non functional type. I can't see why missile items would need to be any different from single or two handed weapon items.

Yes, I'd expect that it's a remnant from Dom1/Dom2, too, and has been replaced with the range functionality of weapons. The item type seems to only serve as an indicator of what slots an item takes up right now.

The strange thing is that it's still inside and documented in the modding manual, though probably non-functional, and since Dom1 and Dom2 stuff was before my time on this forum, maybe some veteran might know something about this change.

Erm, what and where? I need to revisit that section of the manual if that's the case. There might be an error in there.

In the modding manual, 3.20 version, Table 19: Item types under 10.12: #type

I'll check it out when I get home.

I checked it and yes, it's there. Most likely the item type table contains old data. Range sets missile weapons, so it's likely a remnant, as noted. But someone should check what it does in any case. The item modding stuff is some of the more murkily documented in that it is not as thoroughly tested as the unit, weapons and armor stuff.

Sorry about that.
