Thanks for the help, i knew it had to be something like building lots of starbases but i thought it would have been easier to do somehow!!!

Re: Help on a construction issue....

With 11 Space Yard III Ships, you can build a sphereworld in 6 years (60 turns) -- #1 builds a sphereworld generator (5.5 years) and #2-#10 each build a cable starbase and a plate base (each takes 3 years).

Then you select the SWG base, then Stellar Manipulation, and then build the Sphereworld.

It's meant to be nontrivial in time and resources -- a Sphereworld starts at 150%/150%/150% w/ Optimal conditions, and your planet / atmosphere type, and can hold 200 facilities and a LOT of people.

It can also be PPP'd in a single turn. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Help on a construction issue....

Hi all, how's things?

Could you give me some advice on how to properly construct the sphere and ring worlds. How do you get all the components necessary into the same location?

Thanks

Hi,
and welcome. There are many topics that deal with ringworlds and sphereworlds. Here are three of them:

http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/For...ML/000774.html

Hope that helps. If not, just do a search or ask again.

Re: Help on a construction issue....

I am new to the game as well, and discovered, based upon my own experience, that you have to build a ship that has a shipyard on it. Then move that ship to the location that you have choosen to be target sight.

I am playing the game right now, night off, and finding it to be rather adictive. I am playing it on my brothers PC, (I am staying at his house while he is in the hospital) and from what I have gathered, you have to design large bases that can hold the needed components and the needed basics like a computer or something.

Once your spaceyard ship reaches your target location, you have it build these bases. When you reach the needed number of components to construct the world, something on the order of 200 turns you tell the main peace to construct the world.

From what I have seen so far, it is a costly endevor, and you need to have a lot of resources before you start this process.

I hope that helps, and if I am wrong at any point, I am sure someone with more knowledge will step in and give better advice and instruction.

Re: Help on a construction issue....

Actually you can do a ring/sphere world in 47 turns. This is the cheapest method (least maintenance paid over the construction period) that I can think of to build a RINGWORLD:

1) Assuming you have space yard III, move a construction ship to your star of choice.

2) Design a space station (I'll call it SS here) with nothing on it but the required bridge, 2x CQ, 2x LS and a space yard III.

3) Put your construction ship on emergency build and build your first space station (Let's call it SS #1), it will be completed in 3 turns.

4) When your first SS is finished make it build the Placement Generator starbase (49 turns to completion at normal rate). Put nothing but a master computer and the placement generator on your starbase. Now put your ship off emergency. It is not needed till turn 11.

5) At turn 11, have your construction ship build SS #2. When #2 is completed your construction ship is again not needed till turn 23.

6) When SS #2 is completed at turn 15, put 3 SS's into its build queue.

7) When SS #3 is completed at turn 19, put 2 SS's into its build queue.

8) It is now turn 23, your construction ship is needed again and SS #4 & #5 are completed. Put 1 SS each into #4's, #5's and your construction ship's build queues.

7) 5 new SS's are completed at turn 27. Now you should have 10 SS's including #1 which is building the placement generator plus your construction ship. Have 5 of your SS's start working on the Gravity Plating starbases, and the other 4 plus the construction ship on the Hyper Density Cable starbases. Again put nothing but a master computer and the gravity plating/HD cable on your starbases. Everything, including your Placement Generator starbase is due to be completed in 2.6 years at normal rate.

8) When there are 15 more turns to go, put all 11 build queues on emergency. Your new ringworld will be ready for final assembly in exactly 1 year.

9) Turn 47, put your new ringworld together and celebrate! Feel free to scrap/mothball or start building something useful with your 10 space stations.

I have always gone the 11 construction ship route for ringworlds anyway... Be sure to hold the production on the plate and cable bases when they are one turn from completion so that you dont have to pay maintainence on all those bases while the control is completed.

Re: Help on a construction issue....

I don't remember the Last time I built a sphereworld, but according to my calculations, you could build a sphereworld in two turns.

All it requires is 11 construction ships, plus the application of $5,000,000. (Divided among each resource).

Build 11, 3000/3000/3000 resource bases, then use a $5M set of retroseries to rush build the sphereworld.

Building a sphereworld via the methods below will cost you only $1,800,000 in construction costs.
(40,000 resources per turn)
(40% the price)
(125x less resource storage required)

I remeber reading that in a post from March time frame. Cannot remember which post it was. But some one listed out the step by step way of doing it very quickly
