OOB 05 unit 121 dates
 

Unit 121 is a SP-mortar (Type SU 96/120mm), left me a bit puzzled. Start date is 75, end date is 90 (ie same as Type 73/107mm), whereas towed mortars of the same type are from 93 to 120 (unit 173). I suppose it's a typo, though with the Japanese one never knows... Pretty little info floating on the Interwebs.

On the list. I'll look into this in the new year. I remember putting it in and something nags that there was a reason for that date

Development
The Type 96 120 mm self-propelled mortar system was developed in the early 1990s to meet the operational requirements of the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force for a mobile and protected mortar system to provide fire support for its mechanised infantry units.Following trials with prototype systems it was type classified as the Type 96 120 mm self-propelled mortar and placed in production. It is believed that production has been at a very low rate with just three being procured in 1999. By late 2007 it is estimated that at least 35 vehicles had been built.
