Hi guys! I\'m new around here

Hi,

I have just ordered my copy of Space Empires IV and will get it tomorrow hopefully. I have been playing the demo for a few days and I enjoyed it. I have a few questions though.

Do you have any tips to make the AI more challenging and aggressive without having to download MODS?

Can I give the graphics of one ship in the premade races to another class? I mean I find it a bit illogical that a medium transport looks bigger than my supposedly huge Cruiser.

If I add another technology to the game through editing the data files, say, if I add a Super Dreadnought Class, will the AI research and use it?

I'm sure I will have more questions when I get the game as I'm sure it will be fun playing it http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

(Pictures/races/race-in-question)

When you are editing the data files, be sure to create a mod, and leave the originals intact.

Create a modfolder, then place copies of all the original folders and files you are about to change inside.
Set PATH.TXT to point to the modfolder, rather than "none", and when you load SE4, it will use your altered files instead of the originals.

If you really want a challenge download some of the player created races and AIs. Then do as Phoenix said and hope you don't start the game right next to one of them http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif.

Welcome LeithLion

Another recommendation is to turn off the CD music. THis will speed the game up. ( It will search the cd alot with this option turned on)

And turn off the show ship movement.

When you get up to about turn 100 and up this will save you about 5 to 10 minutes a turn.

Enjoy.

THis is a great forum. Very open and very helpful.
