Crashes when I set number of turns
 

I have just downloaded WinSPWW2 to my Inspiron-8000, WinMe O/S, plenty of space and memory. In fact I only use this machine for PC games (have SPMBT, PG2 & SPWAW as well) as well and have no other programs on this. I had been playing the SPWW2v7.01 but that began to freeze/crash regularly. I have uninstalled it.

So far in my limited experience with this new Windows version I have uncovered a complete freeze when I go into the "map" window and attempt to reset the number of turns. While I can type in any number (literally) I can access nothing else in that window, nor can I get out of it without alt-con-deleting. I then have to re-start the computer because the game will not come up again. If I do not when I hit the WinSPWW2 icon the opening little square appears, I click on "Play" and the window closes and nothing happens. The game will not reappear until I have restarted.

I have turned the mouse interface click to "off" and turned off the sound. It still freezes.

I am afraid I have no idea what "the opening little square" means, or what "going into the map window and reset the number of turns" means either.

You do have directX version 8.0 or better installed on this machine?.

Solved my problem. I'm an idiot. That was the problem all along. But I am not incapable of learning. Thank you for the help and sorry for the unnecessary postings.
