Instructions

I've been accepted to my first multiplayer game!

Now I find myself hving to load mods:shock:

I have perused my manual and find no instructions on how this is done.

According to the host's post I require three mods to play. The first mod I placed the entire folder in the ...dominions3\mods folder and the game didnt recognize it. Moved the files out of the folder and the game recognized the addons. Hurray:)

The cbm1[1].4 file the host linked to also had a directory called worthy heros. I extracted these files to my ...dominios3\mods folder. However I'm still unable to load the worthy heros mod under my mod preferences.

I then tried to do the same for the llamabanners mod. This mod contains two folders that contain mutually exclusive files. aka the sns3 folder and the llamabanners folder contain files with the same name but different file sizes. Upon extracting these files to the ...dominions3\mods folder I'm still not presented with the option to load this mod (either of them).

Did get the singleagecomplete to extract and load no problem.

Any tips or pointers?

Also could it be possible for a sticky explaining how to load the mods for complete n00bs such as myself? I scanned my manual and couldnt find anything.

I would like to point out that the ...dominions3\doc\modding.pdf doesnt actually tell you how to load a mod:p

Re: Instructions

Every mod has modname.dm file, which has to be in the *\mods\ folder.

The mods can choose whether their images are in the *\mods\ or in a subfolder. Usually, when you see a .dm file you can extract all the files into *\mods\ without doing anything more for them.

If you open a .dm file in a text editor, one of the first commands is usually #icon, followed by the path where the mod expects to find the banner image. Most mods have banner image in the same place as all the other images.

The .mod files always have to be in the mods folder. Additional resources may be in subfolders there, depending on how the mod is structured.

The worthy heroes mod has been incorporated into CBM. Those files/folders you are talking of are only the resource files for that, i.e. graphics.

Read the mod's instructions. I didn't look, but I expect that one is the older source, and the other is the files from llama's upgrade.

Did you try the FAQ? Though with mods, it's very easy, you just select the ones that you want to have active in the main menu, Preferences > Mod preferences. Though you only have to do that if you want to start a game or create a pretender god. If you open a game which has been created with mods, then the game automatically loads the mods required for you, you don't have to do so yourself.
