Will AI use troop invasions?????
 

Has anyone been able to modify ai to use troops to INVADE, not just defend?

Appreciate knowing how.

Do the vikings really invade (or any other race). Never seen them. Do you know approximately the timeframe they will start ivading?

Yes, the Vikings do invade and capture planets. I have seen that many times. It is really hard to tell when they will do that, because of the different game setup options, but I have seen that happen around turn 60 in my Last test.
