FG 42 fjg Gruppe

I noticed a weird thing while I was checking some late era fallschirmjaeger squads.

The squad with FG 42 rifle as main weapon and panzerfaust costs 29 points, while

the squad with Kar 98 rifle costs 32

they are identically armed otherwise (42 MG, panzerfaust, grenades)

FG 42 is clearly superior to Mauser, has kill rating 3, Kar has 1

Should not be this squad more pricy?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Btw, as this is my first post here, thanks the developers for this great game:)

..................

hell, it looks like it belongs to different category, sorry

Re: FG 42 fjg Gruppe

FG 42 Gruppe is 180

Kar version is 704

also there is Stg44 version of this squad, number 182, which costs the same as FG42 squad (and stg44 is again inferior to FG, as it has range 8 to 10)

Try looking at the radio code. 20 for one, 90 for the other. Chance of a radio is charged for as it is a most useful device.

Generally, the points values for rifles is insignificant in sections. Too little difference, unless range (a major determinant) is well superior. Number of men in the section is of more significance.

Also - please post TO&E questions in the TO&E forum, and not the main game forum in future.

Cheers

I was wondering about this myself and the radio code explains the difference. After learning this, I have been looking for a unit's radio code. I was looking in the purchase screen but I'm either blind, or it is found somewhere else. Please let me know where to look for it. Also, I don't know how to find the unit number.
Thanks for your help.

Use Mobhack. That is where you will see all a unit's data.

Re: FG 42 fjg Gruppe

The statement that the number of men in a section is more significant than the points values for rifles leads me to a question. Is there an optimum size for an infantry unit? In some OOBs you can pick betweem different sized units. I have usually favored 12 man units over 10 man units. However, I notice that dispersal on a 12 man unit is usually at 9 casualties, while a 10man unit usually disperses at 8 casualties a 33% extra hit to the 12 man unit vs. a 20% hit to the 10 man unit in extra losses. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

You are way over thinking it just play with what you like why are you taking squads down to minor % diffrences. Disbanding depends on several factors play the Japs for instance & fight to the man.
Bigger squad more firepower all other things being equal but hey high experince means more accurate, less chance of being detected, dodge incoming fire.
The diffrences you are talking about are so small the way you use them is far more important.
Not having a go at you but there seems to be a trend of late for detailed info to squeeze the best out of your forces, when all you need to know is how it works generaly.
A big diffrence like elite vs conscript will have an effect but otherwise the tactics used will determine the outcome.

Bigger squads are relatively cheaper; ie they are more expensive in absolute terms but not if you look at cost per man. So that's a factor to take into account too.
