How to counter Vanheim
 

I am playing Marverni. I had success against Vanheim for a while, but now it is kicking my ***, mostly by lightning and the damnable glamour units. Any advice on how to counter Vanheim late in the game.

Can you Mind Hunt his raiders? I don't remember if Mind Hunt can target sneaking commanders or not.

1 pt of damage (iirc) is sufficient to popglamour.

My first answer to glamour is tons of slingers. Hold back your melee until the glamour is popped.

As malverni you should have 313mages iirc. Which means you have access to sleep clouds, swarms and poison vapors- also poison resistance.

use slingers and swarms to pop glamour,

swarms to slow them down.
Vanheim units have high defense sleep which does 46 stun? to give foul vapors time to work.

Area effect spells are very good against glamour.

Slingers should be able to remove glamour from the units, and if you cast iron bane, slingers can even kill expensive glamoured units. (and if you add army of gold, one of your slingers is as strong as a vanheim unit for 6 times the cost).

And you should have much stronger battle magic than vanheim as he has only A2B1 mages to recruit.

btw. star fires is a nice tool to dispose of thugs.

Thank you all so much. I have been playing the game for a couple of months. This is by far the most complex game I have ever attempted, so all these tips are greatly appreciated. Thank (pretender) God for the forums.
