Quick question

I remember reading somewhere that someone made a mod that cranks up the pd of water provinces so it effectively removes them from the game.

I cant find it anywhere, and im curious if it would still work with dom2 (im a broke college student, so I havent upgraded yet)

Could someone show me where to find it?

Thanks

EDIT: turns out I downloaded it a while ago, but its not working with dom2, anyone got any ideas how to get it to work with dom2? I'm gonna take a crack at it and see if I cant figure it out.

Re: Quick question

You can remove them from the game by using the map edit commands to setup a super powerful independents inside the water provinces. Personally I recommend including independent SCs to keep water provinces off limits. Just make sure the army has plenty of food otherwise they will starve and eventually be vunerable.

If you're playing SP games it's even more important to not use water provinces for DOM_3 since water mages can no longer enter provinces the majority of land AI opponents never go into the water.

Re: Quick question

What I did on my version of Parganos is just set the population in all the sea provinces to 0, and remove all the sites. Then you can conquer them if you want, but it won't give you any advantages apart from possible mobility from walking along the sea floor.

Well there's several benefits and one AI disadvantage from owning even a sea province without population and magic sites:

1) Temple for dominion
2) Sometimes provides faster movement to other provinces which may otherwise take 5+ more extra turns and not effectively utilized by the AI.
3) PopType should be set to nothing for preventing recruiting of any units otherwise the AI might waste its money on aquatic units.

Re: Quick question

Someone could probably write a quick program to do a "setland" for each water province (wiping the poptype and sites), then erasing the neighbor lines for the province also. Maybe 0 the population also.

I think that removes all possible benefits? But you could also add insane levels of defenders also.

I could do that easily enough, if it was wanted.
