Wishlist: Reassignment of Formation

It would be nice to see the possibility of reassigning a complete unit/section/group to an existing company. The reassigned unit/section/group would become a separate and fully functional part of the company. Such as reassigning a unit/section of Flak SPAA to a tank company.
This would also be useful for transferring that elite unit/section/group from a not-so-good company into a real elite company.
I realize that this may well be impossible with the present code. Just a wish for the distant future. Hey, I am still here after the original release of Steel Panthers by SSI way back when. :)
The Camo team has worked wonders. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and hard work.

Use the already existing cross-attachment screen to move individual platoons under different companies command. See the "Cross Attachment Screen" topic in the GG.

Re: Wishlist: Reassignment of Formation

Hi Starmyth,

I use this feature every battle/campaign. I will usually buy about 5 companies. Say 3 infantry, 1 armour, 1 Support. Then I will delete any platoons I don't want, and purchase those I want.

In the Deploy phase you can reassign whole platoons or individual units (but not individual HQ units).

I sometimes reassign a detachment of SPAAA units or armoured cars to my armoured company; a sniper to each of my infantry companies; and I usually completely reorganize my support company.

Under my support company commander I may put:
Field artillery
Engineer platoon
Anti-Tank sections
Armoured car platoon
Recon/scouts/patrols
Battalion transport (trucks, halftracks)
AAA
FOO
MG platoon

Must be cool to have a wish and find it was answered years ago!

cheers,
Cross

Always do it to
Tank Co often has armoured cars or mobile AA attached.
Infantry Co if dont come with assign scouts ATR or the like to them, transport to sometimes.
Arty might get static AA attached

Re: Wishlist: Reassignment of Formation

I am aware of, and have used, the original method. In addition, I have used my own modifications of OOBs. Modifications of OOBs are 'cleaner' but are more time consuming. As I stated, it was just a distant wish. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Re: Wishlist: Reassignment of Formation

Quick question that appears to be along this line.

Is there anyway to move a complete formation up or down the “chain of command”. I’ll start my campaign and as I get further along I’ll be able to add formations.

What I’d like to be able to do is add more tanks, infantry, transport up front without having to delete units and loose their experience to fit them in where the maximum number of units allows.
