Getting a map out of AI battle files?

I took the files from a WinSPWW2 saved game with a map I wanted back but didn't save. I seemed to remember something about making the battle a scenario in order to get the map back.
So I renamed the battle a scenario and saved the map from it.

I can fight new battles on this map and/or make scenario's from it, but
there's graphic ghosts from the previous battle on the map. For example the 7 destroyed german tanks, the smoke and fires from these are still visible during deployment in another battle.

Is there any way to clean this up?

I vaguely remember there might be a crap-clearance function in the stand alone map editor. Cannot recall if it is a CD only feature.

If I look at the map in the editor the graphic issues are not present.
So in effect theres nothing to fix.

Didn't see any "crap clearing funtion", but no matter.
