Race partraits/ships in multiplayer games?
 
I've noticed that in LAN-based multiplayer games (sim turns), the ships and portraits of the other people's races are random, and, moreover, they change from turn to turn. All of us customize their empires and password-protect them.

Putting other people's .emp files in my local \Empires folder didn't help.

Does anybody know what I need to do to see all race protraits and shipsets in a consistent way?

I hope people here have enough experience with mulitplayer games via PBW to answer this...

You need to place their shipset in your Pictures/Races/<racename> directory.

Well, actually we all chose standard shipsets for our races.

Let's suppose I create a new empire named X and choose the CueCappa race portrait/ ship style in that empire creation dialog (I am not a shipset designer - I just want a customized empire for my next game http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif ). Do I need to add X to Pictures\Races now? How do I do that - rename all CueCappa files? Or will it be enough if I save my empire file as CueCappa.emp? Or...?

No, it should work if you pick a standard race picture.
