effect of Heroic Ability

If I were understanding it correctly, the Heroic Abilities are supposed to increase only when the heroes "remain in the Hall of Fame".
But 2 appearances in my recent game have made me confused:

The game is at turn 63:
My prophet, who has been driven out of the HoF for years, possesses Iron Will of MR+5.
One SC, who has just entered the HoF after another victory, receives an instant Heroic Strength of Str+11.

Now I believe the HA are not working as I thought, maybe simply a Bug?
- Any commanders, who were once members of the HoF, will receive the bonus with increasing effect.
- The amount of bonus is only determined by the turn number, and is independent from how long the hero has been in the HoF.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Re: effect of Heroic Ability

Different bonuses work different ways. Strength and hit points are a percentage of the original base values.

Heroic Toughness grants +50% hitpoints and keeps increasing, Heroic Strength does the same for Strength. MR, Defense, Precision, reinvigoration, Tough Skin and others all start at +1 and move upward by increments of one.

Therefore Heroic Strength and Heroic Toughness are especially good on big units like Niefel Jarls, Rakshasas, Fomorian Kings and other high impact units.

Funny thing is that if the unit's type changes, such as bringing back a mage as a mummy, the strength and hitpoint values are calculated as percentage points based on the base values of the mummy. Which can make for an instant thug when kitted out. I had one mummy with the hit point boost ability and he was at something like 100 hit points and once kitted out, slaughtered armies on his own.

The heroic abilities scale differently. I have given an in-depth analysis how it works over multiple posts in some other thread about heroic abilities, did you try the forum search?

Yeah. I remember one MP game where I rebirthed my Black Spider prophet on turn 40+. He had tragically perished on turn 20, but managed to keep his HoF status (and his Heroic Strenght) all that time.

I was pretty suprised when I skimmed over his mummy-stats and noticed that he had strenght 79. I'm not kidding. Let me restate for dramatic effect, 79.

So I gave him 2x swords of swiftness, Gore Helmet and Jade Armor for redicilious 10 attacks with damage 80+ for a single round. Unfortunately, he didn't get to show his awesome might since he got sent to hell on the second round of his first combat.

And he never returned, probably because of his negative fire resistance..
