Random Map Graphics Mod?
Hi everyone,
New player here. I've been playing random maps (which I enjoy) but find it really hard to "read" the maps in comparison to other strategy titles. I lurked through the Mods list but didn't see anything that obviously addressed this. And after seeing the custom maps offered in the Mods section the vanilla random maps look poor at best. Any insight is appreciated! Thank you, CautiousChaos |
Re: Random Map Graphics Mod?
The settings for the ingame generator dont offer much. The best you can get is a heavy blur which can help.
You can also set the colors. Setting the colors of water and land to sepia, and setting the colors of the borders to something brighter, is acceptable to some people. If you add the command switches for those settings to the icon that opens the game then you will change the default settings that the maps run on. Ive asked Kristoffer for a "blank" set of map icons. A file that can be switched in and out of totally transparent "images". Havent seen one yet. |
Re: Random Map Graphics Mod?
A more comfortable way to tweak settings for random map generation would be to use RanDom, in case you have not seen/tried that yet.

Re: Random Map Graphics Mod?
Eeek. There's a lot to this RanDom tool. It's going to take a while to digest. I guess I was hoping there were some resource files that were exposed to users so that you could tweak the graphics/assets that are used by the random map generator.
