Playing underdog forces?

Anyone have fun with playing with substandard troops sometimes?

The campaign I just started is 1939 Russians. I have 2 companies of conscripts, a platoon of 5 T26 with machine guns only, 2 maxim gun sections, 2 37mm AT gun sections and 5 82mm mortars.

I'll propably get my butt handed to me, but its fun to sometimes deal with a different tactical challenge :)

And don't forget "orderly retreat" offmap is always an option!:)

If you wanna try an underdog.

Go with Italy.

Their tanks were small underarmed and weakly armoured.

But they had some good units like the autoblinda(upgraded to the 47mm) and others.

How is that accomplished? My stuff is retreating because it's been all shot up by the enemy.

One of the best campaigns I played was as Italy vs GB during the early war time frame in North Africa. Now thats a challenge.

Happens all the time in MBT not because you bought second line reserve stuff but because you are totaly outclassed equipment wise.
Try Somalia vs the USA or even Pakistan
Not Campaign material mind.

You're not fast enough!:D:D
BTW
1st I was joking and
2nd breaking contact and "disengaging" a "low quality" force is difficult both in the game and in real life. Maybe this is a case where "smoke" is actually good for your health!:)

I do like to play the underdog - especially the Poles..., but I wouldn't call them substandard.

Btw, if you're playing as Germans - you're not forced to play as LSSAH, try choosing your units from what could have been found in less favoured formations, say 3rd PzGren Div or maybe 71. Infanterie..., hehe...

There was something I liked about pnzrgrndr's other than their added experience, but after a while I wised up to realize that they are squads with very few men, therefore a poor choice. At least SS and Brandenburgers have from 12-13 men. It can make a pretty large difference when going up against those 19 man polish squads. Regular german infantry, I think, are 12-13 men as well.
