Is there a successor to the dead Yahoo Groups?

The Yahoo Groups SPMBT and SPWW2 and SPColorMods used to be very active, but they seem to have died. Other than here, is there an active SPMBT forum?

I think all the main discussions are now here, with maybe some still going on at the Blitz and World at War websites.

That is sad, those groups used to be very active.

Akmatov,

I think their raison d'etre withered away when this dedicated Shrapnel forum was created - the Yahoo groups pre-dated this Forum by quite a while, I believe.

John,

I always thought the Yahoo Groups were associated with the DOS versions of SP.

Once the games were upgraded to Windows, and the shift to Shrapnel with these forums, those Yahoo Groups seemed obsolete.

That was my impression.

You guys are quite right. Although there has always been, I think, a Camo Workshop or Shrapnel Games forum; it was always much more game development specific oriented whereas the Yahoo Groups were more wide ranging and scenario oriented. The old forums used to get hundreds of posts a month, which is far more than since they withered. Sigh.

Yes, you're posting on it now.

The Yahoo forums lingered for awhile and then died a predictable death after Andy and I moved here as this became the primary source for information on the game.

.....and at last count there were nearly 22,000 posts on the Shrapnel winSPMBT forum which averages to over 450 a month and when it's combined with the winSPWW2 total it averages over 700 a month and between Andy and I we account for over 125 of those per month which still leaves nearly 600 post a month on average between the two forums that don't come from us which is higher...on average... than only a few months at Yahoo

There were a few "characters" on there, I recall. A certain Gud springs to mind.....

It was from the Yahoo group that I was first seduced onto the Dark Side of PBEM. A big thank-you for that!

Guds posted here a few times but not lately. People may be active for a couple of years then RL usually takes it's toll.
